Gone by Micheal Grant is an amazingly awesome science fiction novel.
This book has about 7 main characters in it, Sam, Astrid, Little Pete, Caine, Drake, Lana, Edilto, and Quinn.

Summary
All the kids were having a normal day at school and the teachers disappeared. No poof or bang or anything they were just gone!!! So Astrid, Sam, Quinn, and Edilto team up to fight hunger and mutiny in about 36sq. miles of enclosed area. Kids screaming for mom and dad. Don't forget about all the toddlers and babies!! A daycare with almost all the kids in it is run by Mother Mary and her brother John. All the grocery stores have been raided from most ice cream, chips, cookies, cakes, etc. All that is left is stuff in houses and boxed and caned foods. As there are alway injuries, they had to have a "doctor". They needed a kid who was up to the task with some past first aid experience. Who should they find but Darah?? All is quite with most elementary and middle school students watching television and the team of leaders patrolling the town when Caine arrives. Caine and his crew cleaned up and practiced driving and made and entrance on the leaders and kids. Caine made a very convincing speech that he had all the answers. Most kids believed him, but some still had their suspicions. Caine turned out to just be a power seeking, mean, wanna-be that used Drake and his violence to power over everything. As hunger threats and Caine and his gang try to overpower the original team of leader, Astrid, Sam, Quinn, Edilto and Lana try to protect the kids and stop Caine.
As Caine gathers more and more followers, he makes rules. If anyone is caught breaking the rules they were to be clubbed with metal baseball bats. A girl, Bette, breaks into a grocery store out of desperation and Caine and Drake take her to the fire department where Sam, Quinn, and Edilto were living and clubbed her right in front of them. About 2 or 3 days later, Bette came into the doctors office, slurring words, walking unsteadily and grasping her head dies from internal bleeding in her brain. So as you can see this was beginning to be a very dangerous place. Kids fearing for their lives, hunger, violence, and all the confusion!! Will the team of leaders be able to figure it out and make peace throughout all the people? Or will Caine's team win and do whatever they please and destroy all hope for respect and organization? I guess you'll have to read the book to find out.
Over all this story is about justice, rights, bravery, confusion, sadness, tragedy, and a little romance. This book does have violence it it so I would not recommend it to people 7 and younger. Over all, I'd give this book, um, 4 stars.
